Portfolio Year 4 Reflections
If this year had a theme, it was one of transition - both going through transitions in the library and preparing for our future transition to becoming a library and learning resource center. Much of our time this year has been spent on change and finding ways to better serve our students, faculty and staff. While I have not spent as much time as I would have wanted on creating online resources to support our distance students, progress has still been made in this area. Resources I created last year continue to be used. I was still able to embed in online sections. I found other ways to support students through my work on the Student Pathways committee and learned quite a bit about best practices in D2L along the way.
I hope to have more time to work on online support resources for students this summer. I am also considering applying for a sabbatical for the 2018-2019 school year and using that time to create a fuller online library support package for students.
While not an official portfolio goal, another area I have made progress in is leadership. I'm participating in a year-long leadership institute and it's helped me to become more aware of my strengths and things I need work on. It's helping me to look at my career and the future path I may want it to take. I also became library faculty chair during the spring semester and am enjoying the challenge of leading a group of faculty.
One other accomplishment from this year is that I was nominated for the BNSF Railway Faculty Achievement Award. I am honored to have been nominated by my division. I will receive notification as to whether or not I've received this award in May. You can view my application for this award online.
As a librarian I'm lucky enough to have a part in transforming students' lives. I look forward to continuing my work in supporting students this coming year.
